Andromeda Galaxy

The Andromeda galaxy (M31) is very similar to our own Milky Way galaxy and although it is about 2 million light-years away, it appears to us to be much larger than the moon.  In moderately dark skies Andromeda can be seen as a fuzzy dot with the naked eye, but this level of detail can only be seen by making long photographic exposures.
