These three brick columns are on the University of Washington campus in Seattle.  There is no indication that they serve any purpose beyond aesthetics, but I suppose there could be something inside them.  It took a bit of work to hold detail in both the bright and dark regions, especially since the Olympus C-3000 with which it was captured does not have much dynamic range.  But as a 2D design it is almost irrelevant, since the image is dominated by the T shape of the lighter regions.
